Anne Hathaway & Dakota Johnson's Verity Trailer Just Dropped, and It's TWISTED
Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson are facing off in the first trailer for the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's best-selling novel, Verity, and honestly, we are already on the edge of our seats.
This highly anticipated movie dives into the twisted world of Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson), a struggling writer hired by Jeremy Crawford (Josh Hartnett) to finish a book series for his wife, Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway), after she's involved in a mysterious accident. But, of course, things are never that simple. Lowen soon stumbles upon a secret, unfinished manuscript that might just spill ALL the secrets about the family's past.
The trailer gives us a glimpse into this psychological ride, from Verity's appearance on Call Her Daddy to Lowen's arrival at their stunning mansion. We see Verity incapacitated, but Lowen quickly gets suspicious, especially when she catches Verity seemingly moving about normally through a window. "I feel like I’m losing my mind," Lowen panics, and honestly, same. Then, in a moment that truly made us gasp, Verity grabs Lowen’s face for a kiss, with a smirk that tells us everything we need to know about the dark energy between them. Lowen’s declaration, "You have this perfect life...and I’m going to take it from you, all of it," seals the deal: this is going to be INTENSE.
Directed by Michael Showalter, who also worked with Anne on The Idea of You (a true comfort watch!), Verity is hitting theaters on October 2. Colleen Hoover herself is a producer on the film, so you know it's going to stay true to the book's deliciously dark vibe. Get ready for a wild ride!
