A wounded bad boy outlaw getting nursed back to health by the one woman brave enough to see the good in him? Say less. Penny gives main character energy from the jump, she is not scared of Quirt, she just quietly decides he is worth saving and we are obsessed with her confidence. Zachary Levi playing against type as a hardened outlaw trying to become a better man is exactly the kind of transformation story we come back for again and again. The tension between the life Quirt is trying to leave behind and the life Penny is offering him feels earned every step of the way. Add in a dusty western backdrop and a slow simmering romance and this is comfort food for anyone who loves an outlaw with a soft spot.
What is Angel and the Badman about?
A remake of the classic western, the story finds outlaw Quirt Evans (Zachary Levi) wounded and arriving on the land of rancher's daughter Penny (Meg Fraser), expecting death rather than the mercy she offers. Penny cares for Quirt and gives him a place to heal, and the two grow close while he recovers. Laredo (Neal McDonough) leads a gang from Quirt's past that threatens to drag him back into violence and puts Penny's family at risk. Quirt has to decide whether to return to his old life of violence or stay and protect the home and the woman who chose to help him. Julio Quintana directs.
