Rita Dominic playing a mother who will absolutely not let one wedding day go sideways without a fight is the energy we needed. This is giving main character mom, the kind who shows up in heels and somehow still saves the day. The comedy hits different because it never stops caring about the mother daughter bond underneath all the madness. Genoveva Umeh as the bride has main character energy too, and watching these two women hold it together while everything falls apart around them is genuinely funny and a little bit emotional. If your mom would burn the world down for your big day, you already know exactly why this one works.
What is The Spectacular Death of Prisca about?
On the morning of her daughter's wedding, Prisca (Rita Dominic) finds herself thrown into an unexpected, fast moving mission to save her daughter, played by Genoveva Umeh. What should be a straightforward celebration turns into a string of frantic detours and surreal complications. Kenzy Udosen and Shamz Garuba round out the cast as characters swept up in Prisca's chaotic day. The film moves between comedy and drama as Prisca races against the clock before the ceremony begins. Every plan she makes seems to fall apart, forcing her to improvise her way through the wedding day.
