OnceMovie · 2007

Okay, so Once is that movie that will make you feel things you didn't even know you needed to feel. It's the ultimate slow burn, 'will they won't they' but make it real and heartbreakingly beautiful. The music is basically another character, telling their story with every single note, and honestly, you'll be humming these tunes for weeks. If you're into those super authentic, low-key romances that leave you wrecked but in the best way, this one's for you.
Once follows a Dublin street musician, known only as Guy, who dreams of a music career while working in his father's vacuum repair shop. His life takes an unexpected turn when he meets a Czech flower seller, known only as Girl, who is also a talented pianist and songwriter. Discovering a shared passion for music, they begin collaborating on songs that reflect their complicated, evolving connection. The film is notable for its raw, indie feel and the genuine performances by real-life musicians Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, who also wrote much of the soundtrack.
