Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Richard Madden playing people who cannot keep their hands off each other while she slowly figures out he might be the actual villain is the most devastating TV premise and this show commits to it completely. She is principled and brilliant and he is so charismatic that you understand exactly why she keeps giving him the benefit of the doubt even as the evidence stacks up. The push and pull between wanting to trust him and knowing she cannot is the engine of the whole thing and every episode tightens that screw a little more. We finished this and sat very still for a while.
What is TRINITY about?
Commander Katherine Decker, played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw, is a decorated naval officer whose professional world collides with her personal one when she becomes involved with Webb Preston, played by Richard Madden, the outwardly charismatic Secretary of Defense. As their relationship deepens, Decker begins to uncover evidence suggesting that Preston may be at the center of a dangerous government conspiracy. Marcia Gay Harden plays Margaret Vandenburg in this eight-episode limited drama series. It marks the first on-screen pairing of Mbatha-Raw and Madden.
