Cashmere Wellington walking away from a sports career she was very good at to defend a luxury art gallery and a family legacy she barely knew existed is the kind of setup that gives a character everything she needs to be completely fascinating. Watching her learn the rules of an entirely different world while also fighting people who have been playing that game for decades is the tension that drives every episode. The show trusts Cashmere to be smart and complicated and sometimes wrong and that trust shows on screen. This one builds slowly and then it has you completely.
What is The Collective about?
Cashmere Wellington is a successful sports agent whose life pivots dramatically when she inherits not just the CEO position of her late great grandfather's exclusive high end art gallery but the complicated legacy and secrets that come with it. Set in present-day America, the drama series blends suspense and action with moments of comedy as Cashmere fights to protect what her family built while uncovering everything she never knew about where she came from. Enemies who would prefer she not ask questions make themselves known quickly, forcing Cashmere to operate in an unfamiliar world under real threat. The series is created, written, and directed by members of The Uniq Art Collective's Colored Girl Film Productions.
