Ibadah & Cinta

Why we love it ❤️

Santun and Rico have that forbidden love energy that just does not miss and I was rooting for them from scene one. Santun choosing what her heart wants over what everyone else already decided for her hits so hard, especially with her dad already picking someone else for her. Rico showing up and actually trying to understand her world instead of expecting her to abandon it is the kind of male lead behavior we need more of. The tension between duty and love in this one had me holding my breath every time Kiai Umar walked into a scene. It is soft, it is devastating in the best way, and it will absolutely have you thinking about arranged marriage tropes differently. Santun deserves every good thing and I need updates on whether she gets her happy ending immediately.

What is Ibadah & Cinta about?

Rico, played by Achmad Megantara, grew up in Melbourne and returns to a world he barely understands when he falls for Santun, played by Indah Permatasari. Santun is the daughter of respected Islamic boarding school leader Kiai Umar, played by Mathias Muchus, and her family expects her to marry within their community. Rico begins learning about faith and tradition through Santun, and the two come to see their bond as something sacred rather than casual. Their connection is complicated by the fact that Santun's father has already promised her to Ustad Salman, a match chosen long before Rico entered the picture. Directed by Jastis Arimba, the film shows what happens when two people from different worlds try to build something real inside rules neither of them made.
