Wicker
Why we love it ❤️
Olivia Colman building herself a whole husband out of wicker and then falling for him is the most unhinged romantic premise of the year and we are completely here for it. This is giving fairy tale logic but make it adult and a little feral. The jealousy plot among the villagers is pure small town drama energy, the kind where everyone has an opinion about your love life. Skarsgård and Dinklage showing up to stir the pot only makes it spicier. If you love a romance that asks you to suspend every bit of logic and just feel something, this one is for you. Expect to leave the theater immediately texting your group chat about it.
What is Wicker about?
In a remote fishing village, an outcast woman commissions the local basketmaker to build her a husband out of woven wicker. Olivia Colman leads as the woman who finds herself unexpectedly falling for her handmade companion, while Alexander Skarsgård and Peter Dinklage play villagers whose reactions complicate her quiet new life. As her bond with the wicker man deepens, jealousy spreads through the close knit community. Elizabeth Debicki rounds out the cast as a woman with her own stake in how the village reacts. What unfolds is an unconventional love that disrupts long held social rules in a place where everyone knows everyone's business.
