Remain

Why we love it ❤️

Jake Gyllenhaal playing a grieving architect who falls for a woman who might not even be real is exactly the kind of premise that lives in our brains rent free. Phoebe Dynevor as Wren brings that same magnetic quality she had as Daphne, except this time you genuinely cannot tell if she's a ghost, a memory, or something else entirely, and that mystery makes every scene between them hit twice as hard. Nicholas Sparks producing a Shyamalan movie sounds like a joke until you remember both of these men have made you cry in a theater more than once. This is a love story that asks you to hold grief and hope in the same hand and does not let go until the very last frame. If you want a cry that also makes you want to fall in love again, this is it.

What is Remain about?

Architect Tate Donovan, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, travels to Cape Cod to design a client's summer home while grieving the loss of his family. He moves into a historic house for the project and meets Wren, played by Phoebe Dynevor, a woman with no clear place in the town's present or its past. Wren pushes Tate to question what he thinks he knows about the house, about loss, and about what is actually possible. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan and produced with Nicholas Sparks, the film blends a ghost story with a love story. Ashley Walters and Julie Hagerty round out the cast as people connected to the house's history.
