Head Girl
Why we love it ❤️
Three besties in their twenties just trying to adult in the same flat and constantly getting in each other's way is the most relatable premise of the year. Flo's poet dreams versus Sadie's need for everything to look perfect is such a specific kind of friend group tension we have all lived through. Dee just wanting to have a good time while her flatmates spiral is giving main character energy in the most chaotic way possible. The New Zealand setting gives it a fresh, slightly off the beaten path feel compared to the usual flatmate comedy. If you have ever lived with people you love but also wanted to scream at, you will see yourself in every single one of these women. This is comfort watching for anyone still figuring out who they are in their twenties.
What is Head Girl about?
Three flatmates in their twenties share a home in Wellington, New Zealand, in Head Girl. Flo, played by Neenah Dekkers Reihana, dreams of becoming a poet, while Sadie, played by Tatum Warren Ngata, is determined to have her life look perfect from the outside. Their flatmate Dee just wants to enjoy herself and live in the moment. Michelle Langstone and Jodie Rimmer round out the cast as Petra and Caro, women whose lives intersect with the trio's chaotic flat. As the three roommates chase very different versions of adulthood, their conflicting goals keep putting them at odds with each other. Season one spends its run watching what happens when three very different twenty somethings try to share one home.
