There is something so satisfying about watching a woman who has her whole life figured out in the city get completely thrown off by one crumbling old estate and a stubborn brother. The Highland setting alone makes this worth watching, moody skies, old stone walls, that whole atmosphere money cannot buy. Isla is not backing down from the bank, her brother, or anyone else standing between her and figuring out what she actually wants. What is Monarch of the Glen about?
After the death of her estranged father, London lawyer Isla Campbell returns to her family's estate in the Scottish Highlands expecting to settle his affairs and leave within days. Instead she discovers a large debt attached to the property, a bank preparing to close in on the estate, and a brother who refuses to give up the family home. Isla is pulled into decisions about the land, the finances, and her own place in a family history she had mostly left behind. As she spends more time at the estate, her plans to return quickly to her old life in London begin to shift. The story sits at the crossing point of family duty, inheritance, and a life she thought she had already left behind.
