Peter flying across an entire ocean because he cannot stop thinking about one weekend with Julie is the most romantic level of impulsive decision making and we are so here for it. The whole village acting like they have every right to an opinion on this relationship is exactly the kind of chaos that makes these shows so good. Julie is not making this easy for him and honestly she should not, he has to earn it. Dustin Milligan doing lovesick and out of his depth is very funny to watch. This is a cozy little romcom that also somehow makes you want to move to rural Ireland immediately.
What is Committed about?
Peter (Dustin Milligan) is a recently divorced accountant who falls hard for Julie (Diona Doherty), a Northern Irish woman he meets during a whirlwind weekend in Toronto. Convinced she is the one, Peter crosses the Atlantic to tell Julie how he feels and ends up in her small, old fashioned village in rural Northern Ireland. The village comes with its own cast of eccentric locals who are not shy about weighing in on Peter and Julie's whirlwind romance. Peter has to adjust to a much slower, closer knit way of life while trying to prove his feelings are real and not just a weekend fling. The show plays his fish out of water situation for laughs while Julie decides if she is ready to let him in.
