Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet is exactly the casting choice we did not know we needed and now cannot stop thinking about. Jack Lowden brings a broody, closed off energy to Mr. Darcy that makes every single scene between them feel like a slow build to combustion. Olivia Colman as Mrs. Bennet is giving unhinged mom energy and every line reading is a whole meme waiting to happen. This is the exact kind of enemies who cannot stop noticing each other energy that built an entire genre, and this cast plays it with total commitment. If you have ever rewatched the 2005 film during a heartbreak, clear your schedule for this one.
What is Pride and Prejudice about?
This new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice stars Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet, the second of five daughters in a family with no male heir to inherit their home. Olivia Colman plays her mother, Mrs. Bennet, who is determined to see her daughters married off well, while Rufus Sewell plays her more detached father, Mr. Bennet. Elizabeth's sharp opinions put her directly at odds with Mr. Darcy, played by Jack Lowden, a wealthy but famously standoffish new arrival in the neighborhood. Directed by Euros Lyn, the season's six episodes trace Elizabeth and Darcy's relationship from open dislike toward something neither of them expected.
